I had a very positive experience at New Malden Smiles. As an actor, I needed to get my teeth whitened, so that I would have a better chance at getting cast in projects such as commercials and television shows. My teeth were not notably ‘bad’, however the canines were noticeably yellow compared to the rest of my teeth. 

I was very impressed that Dr Shah initially refused to whiten my teeth until he had helped me with some minor gum problems he discovered, showing he cared about my health. Once that was sorted, I opted to whiten my teeth. It was very easy, I had to carefully place blobs of solution into my retainers, then wear them over night. This lasted for two weeks. It would only occasionally give me some brief pain in the daytime, but I was quite happy to find that it wouldn’t last. The toughest part was the caffeine withdrawal symptoms. 

At the end of the treatment, I can happily say that my teeth now look naturally white! If I didn’t tell you about the treatment, then you would never guess they had work done on them, which is exactly the type of white that I wanted. Very glad that I did it, wouldn’t want to go back to having yellow teeth. It’s been over a month and they have retained their new colour, plus I have received compliments since, such as “this guy has got great teeth”, which makes me think it was worth the cost! After a recent check up and explaining some pain I was having around the gum area, I had some images taken and it was explained that I needed a crown to be fitted to a lower tooth which would help reduce the gap between the gums. Within a week, I had an appointment in for the crown preparation which included impressions, tooth preparation and fitting a temporary crown. With modern easier impression moulds it was all a quick process and pain free after a small injection. 2 weeks later, I had the crown fitted which was very quick and easy as all the preparation had been done so no need for any injection. Following the crown fitting, the gum area has been much better and it feels just like a normal tooth. Very pleased with the quick attention and crown. 

Having attended the surgery with a painful tooth, it was found that an upper tooth had split and the best way forward was to have it removed and an implant fitted. This would be quite tricky due to low sinuses and not much bone to play with which meant the implant may not work but I chose to go ahead as I trust the advice given to me having been a patient of Mr Shah for 30 years. 

I was a bit nervous about having an implant fitted but have to say that having the tooth removed and implant fitted was less painful than expected and the area was only tender for 24 hours. A temporary cap was put on the implant for a few weeks to see if the bone was growing around the implant and if it would be strong enough to take the crown. With good news that the bone had grown around the implant, I had the crown fitted after 3 months and was given clear instructions to make sure I take extra care around the implant when cleaning my teeth. 18 months later, I still have no issues with the implant and an very pleased with the outcome. 

In November 2014, I started to feel a small swelling under my chin / jaw. Having attended my doctors surgery, they advised that it was likely to be swollen glands. A couple of weeks later, with the swelling still feeling uncomfortable, I contacted Mr Shah who asked me to come in for an urgent appointment the next day to check that I had no dental issue. After check up, Mr Shah advised that he was a little concerned and would get an urgent referral to the hospital. At this point, Mr Shah explained that he thought it could be one of three things, maybe a dental issue that he could not see on limited X-ray, maybe fluid leaking or something more sinister. Having an urgent hospital referral in December followed by tests in early January 2015, it was found that I had stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I started 6 months of chemo on 3rd Feb 2015 and have been successfully treated. Without Mr Shah’s quick attention and help, this may not have been picked up as quickly as it was as it was his referral that got the diagnosis.

Three fillings, the words resonated in my head, my check-up X-ray had revealed some dental degradation. Obviously no one looks forward to fillings but any concerns I may have had about the procedure were immediately allayed by Dr Shah's professional manner and patient explanation of the necessary procedure.

After viewing the pictures taken of my teeth at the check-up and discussing what needed to be done and why, the procedure began. There was a slight sting in both gums as the pain killing injections were administered but what followed was relatively pain free, just the mild discomfort of having my mouth manipulated for access and the noise of the drill and suction tube. Dr Shah kept me fully informed of what he was doing throughout which in itself helped me to relax.

The whole procedure seemed to take no time at all and following a quick rinse with the 'coconut flavoured' rinsing agent, another viewing of the 'newly filled' teeth and a concise reminder of the importance of dental hygiene and cleaning techniques it was all over.

I am extremely happy with the results, the fillings are done in such a way as to be imperceptible and my teeth are completely pain free but then I am not at all surprised with the results and this is why I have been going to Dr Shah for over 30 years.

I cannot recommend Dr Shah highly enough. I have been looked after by him for over 20 years and have always received excellent care and attention. On holiday this year I broke a tooth: I sent Dr Shah a message and a photo (!) and he responded straight away with guidance as to what to do before returning home and I managed a further ten days before he was able to repair the broken tooth. As always, he explained the position fully and then proceeded to repair the tooth and restore it to its former glory. Though never an experience that one would wish for, the work was carried out with great care and the minimum of discomfort - I was very relaxed throughout the procedure. A wonderful dentist - thank you very much!

Here is the review of my latest visit to New Malden Smiles.
When my 30 years old crown with metal post broke, I went to see Mr Shah and get his expert opinion about the options how to proceed with repair. As usual, Mr Shah was calm, collected, analytical and direct. He went through every single option, explaining practical and financial aspect of each action. In the end it was so easy for me to decide which way to go. We went for Direct Bridge. 

The treatment was never going to be straightforward but Mr Shah made it look so easy, comfortable and pain free. As always, he offers to make himself available any time you need him after the treatment in case you experience any pain or discomfort. He sends you text messages asking if everything is OK. I also want to thank his wife, who is his nurse too, for her great help to Mr Shah and is so alert when it comes to decide what to do in situations when you feel slight discomfort.

My Bridge is functioning very well and I am happy.

My recent visit to New Malden Smiles, was to have root canal treatment. I was put at complete ease, following a thorough oral examination with phographic images, and the procedure explained in detail.

The work was carried out with precision and with minimum discomfort. I was completely satisfied with the outcome.

I recently had root canal treatment from Dr Shah which turned out to be far less traumatic than I had envisaged. Dr Shah always explains everything very thoroughly prior to undertaking any treatment and so I knew this would entail several visits and some discomfort but overall I was very relieved as I hardly felt any pain at all and I am really pleased with the crown that he fitted after the root canal treatment – it’s as good as new! I can highly recommend Dr Shah who, as always, was very supportive every step of the way. 
 
I have been visiting Dr Shah for many years and he has always managed to repair my teeth, rather than embarking on more drastic measures and I am immensely grateful for this. He uses the latest technology at the practice and I feel that whatever treatment I need, Dr Shah will be able to carry it out expertly in a pain-free manner. Having had a deep-rooted fear of dentists for decades, this is just wonderful!

Like many others I have always had a fear of going to the dentist. This, however, was all resolved when I was recommended to Dr.Shah. From the first point of contact with the receptionist to actually commencing treatment, “precision” and “care” come to mind. A very thorough explanation of necessary treatment is given, and this is coupled with images on the screen. My experience of having a dental implant was a lengthy yet painless, procedure, and on Dr.Shah's advice, this was the correct decision. No patient leaves the surgery without a briefing on oral hygiene, brushing your teeth, and gum care. This step-by step routine is also sent on to you via email. The follow up care following major treatment is reassuring, plus appointments are available at weekends. It’s especially worth the journey from The Chilterns to attend the Dental Practice.

I have been going to Dr Shah for many years, having followed him from his previous practice.

Dr Shah and his team have always been very thorough and explained every stage in great l close-up detail on a live monitor! I am immensely grateful for the time that they spend explaining how I can look after my teeth. I am also very grateful that they will always try and repair my teeth with the utmost expertise, before suggesting more drastic or expensive measures. At 8pm on the evening before I was due to take an early morning flight, Dr Shah received a panic-stricken email from me when a great chunk of tooth broke off. He and his dental nurse opened up the practice at 9.30pm to especially address my emergency. Dr Shah made an expert repair, for which I was extremely grateful - definitely over and above the call of duty.

Before becoming one of Dr Shah’s patients, I had developed a real fear of going to the dentist but I soon felt so confident that I was in safe hands that I quickly overcame this.

I’ve always been pleased at how quickly and how well Dr Shah has solved my dental issues. My teeth have never been robust, and hence their survival in reliable use into my late 60s is a strong endorsement of Dr Shah’s policy of careful conservation and judicious repair.

Staff at New Malden Smiles are friendly and knowledgeable. Any tooth problems and treatment are fully explained in layman's terms. The practice is modern and makes use of the latest technology, such as the use of an intra-oral camera to show you the difference in your teeth pre and post treatment.

Appointments do not feel rushed. There is flexibility in appointments and if there is capacity to carry out a treatment the same day, it can be accommodated, else you can easily book an appointment for another day.

But it's not just his technical expertise that I value. He is also a charming individual who makes me feel welcome and valued as a patient. I have been a patient of Dr Shah since moving to Kingston in 2004. Since then, he has always provided a first-class professional service. I have been grateful for his expertise over the years and in particular for his repairs on a chipped front tooth which still looks seamless and natural 12 years on.

Upon guidance from Dr Shah, I undertook a tooth whitening course as after years of tea and coffee drinking my teeth appeared stained. He keeps himself very up to date with the latest technology and techniques and also has good relationships with other dental specialists in the area so has a great referral network for specialist services. On occasions, when he has referred a member of the family to a particular specialist, we have followed his advice and it has always proven to be extremely valuable.

We have been the patients of Dr Shah since our retirement, at the beginning of this century, when he worked at another Surgery in Kingston. When he left to set up his own practice we left with him as we had established complete trust in him by then and wished that to continue. Since then he has been the sole dentist for myself and my husband. As I have an irrational fear of dentistry and my husband has Alzheimer’s and multiple complications, we have tested Dr Shah's professional skills to the utmost, and he has never been found wanting.
 
We both feel that Dr Shah knows us and our teeth really well and he always keeps us informed about previous and probable future care. He has dealt with fillings, root canal work, extractions, crowns, and denture repairs, always to our satisfaction. He is aware of our other relevant health issues and treats these sensitively when relevant, as well as being reassuring when I feel nervous.
 
A huge advantage of being patients of Dr Shah is his responsiveness when we need his help. He replies to our texts as soon as possible and will provide appointments at very short notice when necessary, outside normal working times if needed. He always clearly explains treatments to be provided, with the aid of detailed photographs which are then shown after treatment, so that we know exactly what has been done. He is ably assisted by his fully-trained dental assistants.
 
I feel we are lucky to have found Dr Shah and have no doubt that our health and wellbeing have benefited from his care. We have also recommended him to a couple of friends who in turn have been impressed. I would highly recommend him and his staff to anyone needing dentistry.

My husband and I have been patients of Mr Shah for over 20 years. He has always been very professional and thorough in dealing with our dental treatment. Unfortunately, my husband had a stroke in the last ten years of his life. Mr Shah was extremely patient and kind in giving him his dental treatment. He never rushed him; taking time to explain the treatment he was giving him.

I have had the utmost dental health advice and care too. He advised on how to clean our teeth and the regime we were to follow. He always gave us a full dental hygiene at our visits. He has kept my teeth in tiptop condition. At 77 years of age that is a commendation.

Getting an appointment was never an issue with us. The staff are always helpful and pleasant. It always feels like we are visiting friends.
